PRF VS PRP

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) are both rejuvenating treatments that do the job of repairing the skin by using the healing growth factors from your own blood. Although there are some similarities between the two, there are a few key differences that set them apart.

PRF treatment is spun at a lower rate so that the layers of blood do not separate, which gives the white blood cells and stem cells a chance to remain within the platelet layer that is collected for treatment. This product contains approximately 10 times the platelet concentration and no anticoagulant is used during the processing of blood. This action helps produce a gel-like fibrin matrix that activates the platelets and allows for a slower delivery of growth factors that produces the tissue to start the healing task. PRF also offers both fibrin and white blood cells which provides a higher healing potential.

PRP uses a small amount of your own blood to help regenerate cells and is delivered directly to areas that need healing. Unlike PRF, this product is processed at high speed in a centrifuge. This separates the blood into its constituent parts and can help treat tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints all naturally.

PRF and PRP are both great innovative treatment solutions with similarities and differences between the two. Let Canvas Skin help you determine which procedure best fits you and your skin goals!
